Bye, bye wrinkles!
As we age, a lifetime of repeated facial muscle contractions become etched into our skin. Wrinkles caused by these contractions are known as dynamic wrinkles (sometimes called expressive wrinkles). Where static wrinkles are noticeable all the time, dynamic wrinkles are a result of repeated muscle movements when we smile, laugh or frown.
Whether you want to be preventative or vanish visible fine lines and wrinkles, neuromodulators will take care of it. Treatable areas include the forehead, frown lines, eyes, smile lines, sagging eyebrows and more.
What are neuromodulators, a.k.a. Botox® & Dysport®?
Neuromodulators are an injectable prescription medication (onabotulinumtoxinA) that temporarily relaxes facial muscles to improve the appearance of dynamic facial wrinkles.
Neuromodulators block the signals sent by nerves to muscles, relaxing the muscles to reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles. In 3 to 6 months, as new nerve endings grow and neuromodulators break down, blocked signals from nerves to muscles are restored.

Before the treatment
Before beginning the treatment, our licensed cosmetic physician will conduct a consultation to ensure that you are a good candidate for Botox®/Dysport®.
When you have been given the green light for the procedure, there is not a lot of preparation that you need to do. If you are hoping to have this done before a major event, you will need to do it well ahead of time.
Prior to your appointment, make sure that your face is well-washed and avoid taking ibuprofen or acetaminophen prior to the appointment. This will help prevent bruising.
During the treatment
After you have been fully consulted, we will take a series of photos to monitor the progress of the treatment and results.
An anaesthetic cream may be applied but most patients find the treatment tolerable without it.
The treatment requires multiple injections, it is a quick procedure (approx 20 minutes) with minimal discomfort.
Neuromodulators are the perfect lunch-break cosmetic treatment without the need to take any time off work!
After the treatment
There really is no downtime! You may resume normal activities immediately after the treatment. It can take up to 10 days for the final results to show.
Following a Botox®/Dysport® treatment:
- Exercising the muscles that were treated for an hour afterward
- Do not lie down for 4 hours after
- Do not participate in strenuous activity for 24 hours after injections
- Do not get in a hot tub, sauna, or whirlpool for 24 hours

At what age should I start getting Botox® ?
There is no “right age” to start. It all depends on your cosmetic goals and desires, your facial structure, genetics, previous sun damage and your skin type. Some men and women age prematurely and start to notice wrinkles in their 20s. If this is something you experience, we recommend getting preventative Botox® treatments to help fend off deep lines and wrinkles in the future.
Can I always use Botox® or Dysport® to treat my wrinkles?
There is no limit on the number of times one can use Botox®, which is why so many men and women prefer this anti-aging treatment.
