Photorejuvenation, also known as a Photofacial, uses intense pulsed light technology, consisting of a very specific spectrum, to target brown and red discoloration, such as rosacea, on the skin as well as visible blood vessels, while improving other signs of aging. How does it work?
A broad spectrum of light is emitted into the skin through a handpiece, which is then converted into heat energy once it reaches its target without injuring the skin’s surface. As the skin is renewing after the procedure, pigmented areas will slowly come to the skin’s surface and shed, whereas vascular lesions are dissipated into the lymphatic system for excretion. How many treatments are needed?

How to prepare for the treatment:
Before coming to the appointment make sure that you are not taking any medications that cause photosensitivity and stop using Retinol products for 1 week prior to the treatment.
Please arrive at the appointment with clean skin, free from makeup, lotion, powder, etc.
Is there any downtime?
Zero downtime. You will have darkening spots of the pigmented lesions for roughly 7 days and will need to stay out of the sun for a minimum of two weeks and wear sunscreen daily for at least one month.
It is best to avoid any activity that can increase the temperature of the skin such as using a steam room or intense exercise.
